      You want your blood sugars to be in the 80-120 range and especially in the morning. That’s generally when your blood sugars are highest.

      The best advice I would give you is diet and exercise because a lack of those are the two things will lead you down the path to diabetes.

      So be careful and take your blood sugars in the morning even if you aren’t diabetic. You should always know your numbers.

  3. This is a very useful tips in how to regulate our early morning blood sugar. A lot of people do not know that late night food without at least little exercise prio to bedtime can affect their blood sugar regulations. In fact, I just know that not every food one can eat before going to bed. Carbohydrates food should be cut lower because of this effect. This is a very educating review that worth revisiting.

      It’s also important to not eat too close to bedtime. Eating late will spike your morning blood sugars!

      Try and not snack 2-3 hours before hitting the sack!

  4. Excellent and informative article, thank you.  My mother has prediabetes and she’s been feeling a little crabby in the mornings so when I saw your website, I just had to check it out. I think it’s possibly the dawn phenomenon, but it could be her medications too, as you mentioned because she is on quite a lot. You gave me some suggestions to talk to her about, thank you so much for that!

      While medications do help, they are only a band-aid effect. The right way to get your sugars down is by diet and exercise.
