How Easy is it to use?

While there are many bikes available, it’s very difficult to find one product that is perfect in every way. There are pros and cons with everything, but in doing research this bike happens to be about the best. While Exerpeutic has top rated bikes, this one has the special feature of being a foldable exercise bike when you have limited space.

It makes it easier as a compact portable bike and a design as a space saver. And the wheels benefit in moving it around the house. No heavy lifting. That’s a big plus!

This next point is important. The seat cushion. I can’t tell you how many seats I’ve been through on my hybrid bike when I’m riding outdoors. I finally found the one that doesn’t hurt the sit bones. The Exerpeutic seat is a large cushion that is suitable for any member of the family just by adjusting the height. It works even if you are on the shorter side.

Quiet. You don’t want a machine that’s noisy for various reasons. With eight magnetic system levels, you’re assured of a quiet workout. Maybe you want to watch TV or listen to music. You can with no interference while on the bike.

LCD Console

This is a great feature that shows you distance, time, how many calories you’re burning, and your speed. It also offers a heart rate sensor.

Durability and Performance

Many purchasers of this exercise foldable bike report that it is very well built for an inexpensive bike. Like any other product there can always be an issue, but it’s covered by a 1 year warranty.

The Exerpeutic Folding Magnetic Upright Bike with Pulse gives a smooth and quiet ride. Shifting the knobs provided by the eight tension settings makes it easy to result in a smooth ride. Feedback from some users who are closer to the 5′ 3″ or 6′ 3″ frame have found it a little more difficult getting comfortable on the bike. The pulse monitors that are built in to the grips are there to help you not overdo it.

Assembly

Like most products there is some assembly required but nothing that you need to be a mechanic for. It’s fairly simple and comes with an illustrated and detailed manual. I’m not that handy and I had no problems. the Exerpeutic 1200 arrives mostly assembled anyway. the main frame is already together, so I only had to set up the pedals, seat, computer, and feet. The included needed parts AND the necessary tools you need to finish putting the unit together. Don’t fret, it only takes less than 30 minutes and you’re done!

Pros

  • Foldable for easy storage
  • Very quiet
  • Larger seat cushion
  • Wheels to transport around the house
  • Heart rate monitor good for heart patients and the elderly
  • Fairly quick and easy to assemble
  • 8 different levels of magnetic tension
  • Wide pedals and safety straps for your shoes
  • No machine wobbling because of leg stabilizers which prevent this
  • Easy to use
  • Priced right for a easy reliable product

Cons

  • Seat too large for some people and uncomfortable when using for a longer time period
  • No backup battery for console. Changing battery reverts to reset
  • Can be somewhat noisy at high resistance levels
  • Not really made for someone over 300 pounds

My Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for an the best foldable exercise bike that delivers a quiet low impact type of workout with high quality workmanship, the Exerpeutic 1200 is your choice. It’s easy and comfortable to use. Easy fold up and out of the way when not in use. For 8 levels of magnetic resistance, you can experience rapid weight loss.

I bike ride as much as I can outside in Florida, but when the weather is too hot or inclement, or I just want to exercise inside watching TV or listening to music, the Exerpeutic 1200 can’t be beat!

I have not experienced any back pain or any pain from my usage. There really isn’t an easier collapsible exercise bike on the market better than the Exepeutic as far as I’m concerned. If you want, you can pedal both forward and backward too. The console comes with AAA batteries. It also has a receptacle for your cell phone of TV remote. Remember, that you can adjust the seat for different heights and should accommodate most people. If you have an issue with the seat as I did with my hybrid bike, you can get an additional set gel cushion to go over the seat. Mine is fine right now.

  1. I love using the bike @ the gym.

I’m currently building up my home gym and need a good bike.

Thanks for reviewing the Exerpeutic 1200.

It sounds like a good bike.

Seeing as how I have limited space I need something that can fold up and be stored away. The price is also within my budget.

Do I have to hold the handles to get a heart rate reading?

    1. I love this bike. It’s a good fit for me. It does what I need it to do and that’s why I chose it. Of course the fold up feature is a real bonus. Yes, you do have to hold the handle bars to get your heart reading.

  2. I never thought that you could get one of these exercise bikes with the fold-up functionality.

That is really convenient as in my case, my apartment is really small and I need all the space that I can get.

I also am happy that it comes at a fairly decent price. This is ideal for me as I have long work hours and wish that I could get outside and ride but by the time I get home its so late.

Cycling indoors is my only option and this is the perfect bike for me.

    Thanks for the help.

    1. Foldup bikes are great and this one is no exception. It has many features and easy to assemble and is priced right. I’m glad I chose the Exerpeutic 1200. It’s perfect for me. Ride and fold. It’s as easy as that!

  3. Hi Rob.

Wow! This seems like a great bike. I love the folding feature. I have a recumbent bike. I thought it would be good for my back; but it takes up a lot of space; and I don’t have as much of that as I used to.

The seat is comfortable on my bike; but I used to have a bike that had a seat that wasn’t. Ouch. I still haven’t found a good seat for my outside bike.

Thanks for turning me on to this. I wouldn’t purchase now; because I will be riding outside; but I will think about it in the fall, or maybe a Christmas present to myself?

    Jeannie

    1. Yes Jeannie it is a great bike for exercising indoors. It’s great because I can fold it up when I’m done. As far as a bike seat for your outside bike? I had that problem for so many years. My bike mechanic finally got me a bike seat that he recommended and WHAT a difference! It’s called the cloud 9. No butt pain!

  4. I love my exercise bike but it is so big!
This model looks brilliant, more compact in general and the added bonus of being collapsible without compromising on other exercise bike features. Plus very reasonably priced!
Thanks for the thorough review – it’s great to know that the assembly is minimal and doable for people who aren’t mechanically minded!

    1. I always rode my bike outside and still do, but I wanted the option to ride inside as well. This is a great exercise bike as it’s easy to operate and has so many features. Of course the foldup feature is the best. It is reasonably priced and easy to put together.

  5. I like that this bike can fold up, great for me as don’t have much storage. Thank you for this review it certainly sounds like the ideal home bike as it’s quite, compacts and it’s great to hear there has been no experience of back pain. Also like that can add the gel cushion if required. Also seems to be reasonably priced.
    Thanks again for the review.

    1. I ride my bike outside a lot, but I wanted an exercise bike for indoors and since I don’t have room to store it, the upright foldable feature made my choice easy. The seat is great for me and it has all the features I need. It was an excellent pick up for my usage. The price is right too.

  6. This bike is just what I need. I love that it can be folded up for storage as my flat is quite small. The price is great too. This is a great way to get the exercise you need to keep fit. having the LCD readout of time and distance is what I need to keep me on track. I can commit to a set time and distance and helps me keep going when I feel like quitting. This post has helped me and I am sure it will help a lot of others who are looking to get fit and lower their blood sugar levels.

    1. Lowering your blood sugar levels is the most important thing and exercise really contributes to that. While I bike outside a lot, I really wanted the option to exercise on my bike indoors and the Exerpeutic folding bike is the perfect choice. It’s helped me a lot, easy to use and of course I love the fold up feature!

  7. This seems like a very good bike to have. I enjoy exercising out doors when ever possible. During inclement weather that becomes a bit difficult. This bike would be perfect for when my little one is napping or during summer when it is too hot to go outside. I also like the fact that it can be stored due to having minimal amount of space.

    1. Yes I feel that it is the perfect exercise bike for indoors. For use in a small room which is where I use mine, it folds up perfectly and into the closet. Easy to use and has very accurate readings. Exercising indoors to lose weight and help with lowering my blood sugar. Perfect!

  8. Stationary bikes have become ubiquitous in the world of exercise and fitness, because they are so convenient and also private. Nevertheless I have never had a folding one before. But your thorough and easy to read review has got me interested. I kinda like the idea of having it tucked away in a corner until its ready for use. And although 49 lbs is not really heavy. It might be a challenge for someone small or old, so wheels to move it around is handy.

    1. Yes I believe that an exercise bike is a great tool for our health. It really is easy to use and the best feature is that it’s a Foldable exercise bike. The price is right and has many other features. Let’s get to riding! Ride and fold!

  9. I like how to the point it was, how you gave a suggestion for seat comfort and how you gave pros and cons.
Because the site is about lowering your sugar naturally, I think it might be helpful to have at least a paragraph explaining why bicycling is good for that, and maybe even how exercise helps in lowering blood sugar.

    1. Thank you. I love bike riding and any exercise will help you in losing weight and lowering your blood sugar. I do talk about bike riding and the benefits here: Bike riding

  10. I like how detailed your review, is it has a lot of info to make a decision. I have back problems so I like you including the info about not having back pain. I haven’t been able to use bike because they cause me knee pain. Does this one seem to add stress on the knees in your opinion?

    1. Having back problems is obviously no fun but then again no pain is. Having the ability to exercise on the bike indoors is awesome especially when the bike folds up after use. It’s an easy bike to use and I wouldn’t think it would put stress on the knees unless you overdo it and push yourself too hard.

  11. Great exercise bike at a great price I imagine.
Good content, does not take up a lot of room in the house, the only concern I have is my legs are a bit
too short for the pedals. Should be fine for average height. I will always pay attention to this kind of products.

    Thank You!

    1. It’s a great bike that fits most people. You can always adjust for your legs. It’s easy to operate, folds up for storage and for a very good price. I absolutely love it. I appreciate your comments. Thanks!

  12. I am glad I came across this post because I have been looking at the Schwinn Airdyne A6 for more of a cardio workout at home. It seems however that the Exerpeutic Folding Upright Bike would be a good fit for my workout benefit. I like the pros about this bike, especially the fact that it has the heart pulse monitoring and it can be easily folded and stored. I have limited space so I am definitely in on this one. Does it give an arm movement workout too?

    1. I did research before I picked up the Exerpeutic foldable bike and it had all the features necessary for me that I was looking for. The heart rate pulse monitoring along with the feature of being a foldable exercise bike made it an easy choice for me. It does not however give arm movement workouts if that’s something that you require but you can easily attach a couple of small pound weights to each arm to accomplish that. Thank you for your thoughts!

    1. The Exerpeutic Folding Bike is the best. I love how easy it is to assemble and it’s state of the art. It’s easy to use and feels very good when riding for exercising. I love the foldable feature! Thanks for your input!
      Cheers!

    1. Hey Brattou, thanks for asking. This bike is awesome. I use it everyday and it’s not one that will collect any dust. It’s easy to use and the control panel is awesome. This bike can be used by men or women. The seat adjusts nicely and there’s an adjustment for the tension as well. It includes distance, calorie counter, pulse, timer, and speed. Thanks for your question.

  13. This is great information, I live in an apartment complex that has a gym and I am planning on buying a house soon, will consider this for after I move.

    1. Hi Gary, I used to go to a gym and used the treadmill mostly. I try and walk everyday and in Florida it gets hot quickly so I try and walk in the mall. But with The Exerpeutic Foldable Exercise Bike, I get to exercise everyday without having to go out if the weather is bad. I LOVE this bike and it’s helping me to lose weight and the fact that it’s foldable, it’s never in the way! Because I ride it every day, my blood sugars have come down too. Great for diabetics! Thanks Gary!
