  1. I didn’t know the health benefits of butternut squash until I read your post. Very informative! I love that you include a butternut squash recipe for diabetics. I am not diabetic, but I love my grandma’s butternut squash. She adds soysauce and some pepper as she saute it with some olive oil. Yum! I didn’t think these squash can prevent asthma. My family has a history of asthma and I might have inherited a little of it, so I’ll need to eat more squash from now on. Thank you for this article!

Its benefits are amazing and it’s always great to know when you eating and the benefits to be gained. I’m not big on pumpkins cooked the traditional way but you have included some yummy recipes that I’ll be passing on to the wife for a try. I’m not a sufferer of high sugar levels however that can change at any time. Thanks for the post and getting some healthy food on the plate

    • Hi Paul,

Although butternut squash can be considered either a fruit or a vegetable, I like to think of it as a vegetable.

Either way it’s awesome for diabetics to eat. I love the taste too!

It’s always best to have alternate dishes to try when you have diabetes.

I never used to eat a lot of vegetables but that sure has changed!

Give the recipes a try and let me know what you think!

I appreciate your thoughts! Thank you 🙂

  4. It’s not growing season in my home State of Wisconsin right now, we are currently buried in about three feet of snow. After reading about butternut squash, I’m going to have to put this item on my list of plants to grow this spring when our planting season comes around.

I always prefer to try to address health in a natural method instead of turning towards big pharma solutions. Natural plants and natural pill supplements is a great option.

    • Hey Scott,

Although butternut squash might not be the most available vegetable, it certainly is beneficial for everyone, especially folks with type 2 diabetes.

I love butternut squash and just about every vegetable there is because they are so healthy for us.

Sounds like a good plan for you to grow them too. This way you know you’ll have them when you need them.

And I totally agree that natural methods such as eating healthy are always WAY better than treating anything with medications!

      Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  5. I read an article recently about good and bad sugar and how to reduce effect using a smoothie. This is really a plus as I got to learn new methods of regulating the sugar levels using Butternut Squash. This article is very helpful and educative, and I’m keeping a tab on it. Keep up the good work.

    • Hey Ayodeji 🙂

We all know that fruits and vegetables are good for us and I always believed that food is medicine.

Butternut squash is no different. It gives your body what you need and helps with your blood sugars as well.

And you know that having recipes with healthy foods such as butternut squash mixes things up so you aren’t just having plain vegetables all the time.

Thanks for your comments and for passing this along to others! 🙂

  6. Hi there!

This is a great article on the health benefits of butter squash. I just stumbled across it and I must say thanks for sharing this because it really of help to me. I have tried so many different types of combinations to help me reduce risk of diabetes, heart disease and cancer because these are the most deadly diseases out there to look out for the solution.

It seems that there’s a strong еvidеnсе that fibеr aѕѕосiаtеd with squash really looks promising because it helps in rеduсing riѕk оf diаbеtеѕ, heart diѕеаѕе, аnd bowel cancer, and thаt it саn also hеlр digеѕtiоn and prevent соnѕtiраtiоn from this article. I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks once more for sharing this. Cheer’s

    • Hi Tony,

Thank you so much! Eating the right healthy foods can help reduce the risk of these serious diseases.

And yes, fiber is what you want in your system to be and stay healthy. It can help you remain healthy and avoid diseases and ailments that you might otherwise develop.

The more of a variety of healthy fruits and vegetables you eat, the better off you will be. It’s great to mix them up and not have the same ones all the time.

Why not give these recipes a try? They are awesome!

Thank you for your insight 😉

  7. Hi Rob,

Wow, I hadn’t realized there are so many benefits from eating butternut squash! I’ve always enjoyed eating it as part of our meals, and I’m definitely going to give some of these recipes a try too.

I also had never thought of butternut squash as being good for people with diabetes or high blood pressure. This is very good to know that it has such benefits since I have a few family members with high blood pressure, plus diabetes runs in the family too…I think we’ll be adding more of this in our diets!

This certainly sounds like it has excellent health benefits especially since it’s considered to have anti-inflammatory properties, another thing I had no idea about! I’ve read in other articles, although I can’t remember where at the moment, that inflammation is considered to be a part of many health issues. All I know is that inflammation is something I want to avoid as much as possible.

We’ve been trying to eat a lower carbohydrate diet, and I find this very interesting to know that the butternut squash has 40% less carbs than potatoes and sweet potatoes. This will be a great alternative to use in the future since I’ve been trying to cut back on potatoes because of the higher starch and carbs in them! So glad to know since it gets tiring eating the same things all the time.

I was wondering are all types of squash lower in carbs or just the butternut variety?

Anyways, I’m glad I checked your post out! Definitely going to be eating more butternut squash from now on, and I look forward to giving your recipes a try, they look delicious!

Thank you for sharing these with us, Rob!

    Best wishes ~Sherry

    • Hi Sherry 🙂

I love butternut squash and it’s so healthy for you!

Yes give the recipes a try. You’ll love them!

The fact that they help reduce blood pressure as well is awesome because high blood pressure can be caused by diabetes too.

You do want to choose vegetables that have less carbs in them when you have diabetes. That’s another reason why I eat butternut squash. I agree that potatoes are not good when it comes to carbs.

All types of squash are good for you especially if you’re a type 2 diabetic.

Thank you for sharing! I appreciate it 🙂
