I think the best option for me is the Mаrсу Smith Cаgе. I don’t mind it being heavy. I started out with my exercise bike. I then wanted to add more equipment.
I did some research and found that these are about the best machines that you can have in your home gym.
I live in a warm climate and even though I ride my bike outside 3 miles every day, it can get pretty warm out so exercising indoors is a luxury.
I know sometimes we can look at things as expensive, but you can’t put a price on health. Space however is another issue 🙂

Great article on the universal gyms for home use. I have been looking at these for some time now and it’s difficult to decide on which one to buy. I love the free weights however it’s difficult when you by yourself working out or even with a smaller person like your wife. I got myself one of those squat racks so as to catch the weight when I fail, and I fail quite often now that I have the security. I need something with the pully system to do lats, pull-ups, butter flys, and cable curls.
I like your Marcy Smith Cage Workout Machine. That is a nice machine and the price is not bad. If you’re going to have it for 20 years or more I think it’s better to put the money upfront and get the machine that works for you. By the way, taking a long time to put together is not a con in my books. Once it’s put together that’s it for many years. The only beef I have with it is all the pullies in it. I had a cheap one that cost 500 bucks years ago and albeit it was ok at the time, once you start going up into heavyweight like 200 lb there was just too much resistance on the cable and pully. I would love to give it a try first before buying that’s for sure.

Thank you! It’s not easy when are you going to buy a home gym. There are a lot of things to consider and of course price as one of them.
But it’s not just price it’s the structure of the machine how hard or easy it is to put together how many different exercises you can do with it and what is the reputation of the company that makes the machine.
And for what you’re paying for the machine you wanted to last many years. so as you mentioned, you want to be sure you know what you’re looking for and I just wanted to mention to that putting it together as a concern and having the room to put the machine where it’s going to remain permanently is it also a consideration.
