Thank you for sharing the differences between the glycemic index and the glycemic load list. I had no idea that lunch meat has sugar! I thought that they are just high in fat and salt, oh well. Thank for sharing how to calculate for the glycemic load. I guess the best way is to eat more whole foods and aim to eat fiber rich that has less sugar like berries and leafy green family. But it doesn’t hurt to know this information either.

And it doesn’t surprise me that you were unaware that lunchmeat has sugar. And the reason being is that there is sugar in almost everything that most folks are not aware of.
It’s so important to know what the glycemic index is and what the glycemic load is of food. This will definitely help you out as a diabetic and has somebody who does not yet have diabetes.
And berries are the best fruit for you because they are the lowest on the glycemic index and have the least amount of sugar.

This was very informative. I didn’t know there was a difference between glycemic index and glycemic load. My husband and I are on the Keto diet and we eat low glycemic fruits like berries, where other fruits like watermelon in your example will raise the glucose and take us out of ketosis.
