Double Diabetes Symptoms – What is Double Diabetes?

What is Double Diabetes?

It might be a shock to hear about something such as double diabetes. Seriously, isn’t just diabetes in itself enough to deal with? But Double Diabetes Symptoms begins with a type 1 diabetic that has diabetes genetically and is exposed to conditions environment wise that lead down the road to type 2 diabetes. A decrease in insulin sensitivity is the result.

Change in Lifestyle

Exercise Class

Type 1 diabetics already have diabetes and with such an alarming rate of people being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes today, if as a type 1 you begin to follow a poor diet and exercise regimen, it could be inevitable that you would become a type 2 as well.

The fact is that as a type 1 your body doesn’t produce any insulin at all. So you are obviously aware of taking insulin every day to survive. But with type 2 you’re just not producing insulin efficiently enough.

You can control the type 2 diabetes with taking better care of yourself with healthy eating and at least some exercise. It’s up to you to change your lifestyle to make this happen.

Recognizing the Symptoms

You are experienced with how much insulin you are injecting each day for your type 1 diabetes. You’ve been doing this for how long? So, you know what your blood sugar numbers are and your A1c level as well.

This is all in conjunction with your physician. If you are drifting off course and following bad habits, then you’ll notice your numbers are off and that you require more insulin at this point. This is the red flag that type 2 diabetes is around the corner and you will then wind up with both types of diabetes, hence “double diabetes.”

What are the Treatments?

Natural Methods

My first choice would be to get it together and find a nutritionist or have your doctor get you on a better eating plan. I know you’ve heard this so many times about “diet and exercise.” But again the fact of the matter is that’s what matters. This is what’s going to help you the most both for your diabetes and your health in its entirety.

Medications

Yes, medications such as farxiga, kombiglyze, and metformin will help you get your sugars down. But they only mask the problems. I believe in the natural ways to lower blood sugar. Because that’s the healthiest way to live, not with medications.

Prevention

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Heard of it before? Of course you have! You cannot prevent type 1 diabetes and we know that. It’s hereditary and a fact of life. But with type 2? You have the power to make right decisions to prevent this from happening.

Eat Right

You are what you eat. Plain and simple. Eat healthy and you can help to stave off type 2 diabetes. I’ve been guilty of not eating right and finally realized I had to get my act together. I don’t have double diabetes thankfully, but I still have to control and treat my type 2 diabetes which I am doing very well thanks to the natural ways I use to lower my blood sugar.

Exercise

Foldable Exercise Bike

You don’t have to be a bodybuilder or a long distance runner. Walk. Inside, outside, in place. It doesn’t matter. Get started. Walk briskly for 20-30 minutes a day a minimum of 5 days a week. (preferably 7) Just do it for your own good, even more so if you’re a type 1 diabetic because you don’t want double diabetes. That’s for sure!

Blood Work

You should be having your labs done on a regular basis anyway. See your doctor about any and everything you do. Keep the doctor in the loop! Test your blood sugars even more than you normally do as a type 1 diabetic if you are gaining weight, feeling more tired, and your blood glucose numbers are on the rise.

In Conclusion

All of these Double Diabetes Symptoms are important for anyone on the verge of becoming a type 2 diabetic. But if you’re a type 1 already? You certainly do not want double diabetes. It’s crucial that you are aware of any signs that your diabetes numbers are beginning to climb. Don’t wait until it’s too late. You are in control of your own body and health. Put your blood glucose monitor to work overtime if necessary!

  1. Thank you for this informative post!

My mother and mother-in-law both suffer from type 1 diabetes I believe.  Since their diagnoses, we have been working hard to keep them on a proper diet.  My mother, in particular, doesn’t seem to want to adjust her diet/lifestyle to address the issue and her doctors keep threatening insulin injections.  Still, we’re trying to get her on the same page as her doctors and have gotten her A1C down a bit.

Metformin (spelling?) gives them both “digestive issues” that limits their ability to go places.  It’s our hope that we can get them both to the point where they won’t need it.

    Thanks again,

    Scott

  2. Howdy Rob,

As someone who is at risk since some family members do have type 1 already,

I really enjoyed the education your provided in this article to recognize the symptoms

    for type 2.

For me personally, exercise and of course controlling my diet have been the two ways

I am trying to prevent the genetics from catching up with me.

Thank you for your due diligence in researching this.

Sorry that you may be at risk. It’s hard enough to start out with type 1 diabetes. You sure as heck don’t want to develop type 2 as well.

I wanted to offer this information about double diabetes because I don’t think too many people even realize that there is something such as double diabetes.

Diet and exercise. That’s what all good health is about, right? It’s the same with diabetes.

  3. Thanks about this post on type 2 diabetes. A friend of mine is suffering from the type 1 diabetes. She inherited it from her parent and ever since then she has been preventing it from turning into double diabetes, but unfortunately for her she got it double diabetes and right now she has been looking for a way to treat it. She does alot of exercises and checking up on her blood level is crucial. Also, she is cautious of the food she eats.

    • Hi Rose 🙂

You’re welcome! It’s unfortunate that your friend has developed double diabetes. She must be diligent in checking her blood sugars and insulin injections.

But now with type 2 diabetes she must treat that as well. The best things she can do is what you mentioned, diet and exercise.

People should know that when you have type 1 diabetes, it is crucial to keep a check on everything and make sure you’re in control.

You don’t want to have double diabetes because it makes it that much harder to control type 1 and type 2 together.

Exercising and eating better are going to help her type 2 diabetes.

I appreciate your comments. Thank you 😉

Thank you so much sir! It’s important to understand what you’re reading and I take that into consideration.

There is a difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes and you can “develop” double diabetes if you’re type 1 and not careful.

It’s important to know as much as possible so that you never have to worry about double diabetes.

Keeping a check on all your numbers and details is a must! the more you know the better off you’ll be,right?

      Thanks for sharing 🙂

  5. Double diabetes is a completely new term for me.

I am prediabetic and with a very strict diet control recommended by a dietician, regular exercise and most of all elevating my Vitamin-D level which was 4ng/mL to close to 26 I stabilized my sugar level.

I am amazed it is so easy to slip off from the diet and exercise. Blood sugar control is the most underestimated thing in daily life. Every day, every meal truly counts and strong will power is essential to be in this path.

Being in India, surrounded by oily food, fried but attractive street food is addictive. It is hard to stay away from them to manage blood sugar.

For me, your website is an eye-opener!

    • Hi Anusuya 🙂

Sorry to hear that you’re pre-diabetic. Now is the time to take control before you have diabetes.

Diet and exercise can be difficult to follow sometimes but it is so important to stick to it.

Having type 1 diabetes is not easy but to wind up with type 2 at the same time is really hard.

That’s why no matter where you live, it’s crucial to stay away from the unhealthy foods and get as much exercise as possible to avoid getting double diabetes.

Thank you for your compliment and your comments. Good luck 🙂
